Horse Catching tip - Step 1
Been workin' with your horse?
If your horse could, would he send
you "wish you were here!" cards?
Does life get in your way and you
can't always do what you'd like to do?
For instance, do you have to rush
out of the house in the morning, hurry
to feed your horse, and get going?
I've been there...done that.
It's a bummer to get so caught up
in life that your "horse dream" suffers.
Before you know it, days, weeks, and
even months pass when it occurs to you...
"Hey...I haven't spent but an hour with my
horse in the last month"
But, even if you don't have time for
Mr. Horse, you can still teach (train) him.
Obviously, there are things you can't
train a horse to do because it takes more
time than just a few minutes.
But, there are a surprising amount of
things you can do with just minutes a day.
For instance, you can teach him to come
to you when you have a halter or bridle in
your hand.
Start with putting a small amount of
treats in your pocket. I like to use Rocky
Mountain Sweet feed.
Just show up every morning and let 'em
come to you. When they come, give 'em a
small handful (or piece of apple or horse
biscuit)
Get 'em in the habit of coming to you.
Before you know it, it'll be a Pavlov response
and they'll WANT to come to you.
Then, here's what you do next...oh wait...
I'll tell you tomorrow.
Don't you hate when I do that? ;)
Sincerely,
Andy Curry
