What your horse is saying

An actual case from the courts produced
these quotes:
Defendant: Judge, I want you to appoint me
another lawyer.
Judge: And why is that?
Defendant: Because the public defender isn't
interested in my case.
Judge (to public defender): Do you have any
comments on your defendant's motion?
Public Defendant: I'm sorry, Your Honor, I
wasn't listening.
This little story reminds me how I
used to be while training horses way back when.
A mentor of mine taught me to listen
to my horse.
Obviously, the horse doesn't talk.
But what he meant by listening was paying
attention to what's going on.
For instance, when you're trying to
teach the horse something and he starts to
get it, you'll likely see him lick his lips.
That's an indicator that he's getting
it.
A big thing to listen for is when the
horse is inspired with fear.
If you don't catch that, it could mean big
trouble for both of you.
A fear message from your horse speaks
volumes if you know what to look for.
One is the head raises high.
Another is while riding he starts to
slow down and even stop. It's likely he's
spotted something and it has his attention
and he's weary of it.
You can help him look for what's spooking
him because he'll be looking towards it.
But be warned. You may not see it.
Often, horses will see something that scares
them and we don't see it.
Why?
Because we're not in the horse's shoes.
What scares them may be so innocuous to us our
eyes glaze right over it.
To listen to the horse means we must
first learn about him by using powerful aids like
the Horse Trainer Owner's Manual. (See below)
When we know his nature, how he thinks,
learns, reacts, etc.,...we become better trainers
and horse care givers.
How?
By understanding them. You can make
quantum leaps in your effectiveness with horses
by understanding them. It'll do wonders for
your ability to train them.
And speaking of doing wonders for your
ability to train, I'm looking for ways to help
you and others learn as much good horse training
info as possible.
To do that, I need to ask you a few questions.
All you have to do is point and click to answer them.
If you haven't already, would you take 30
seconds to do that for me....please? Thanks!
